My older boys both have cellular phones with unlimited texting. I am amazed at how they can respond quicker to a text than a call. Sunday, Joe spent the night with his friend. The next morning I texted him, I wrote, " good morning son, I hope you had a good night sleep. I can't wait to see you. Love you, Mom." I expected some nice response like "can't wait to see you too mom. Love you." Well, no response came, I waited about an hour then I texted him, "hey son just wondering what's your favorite snack?" within seconds a reply came "blooming onions and sour skittles :)". I texted back, "oh, so your text is working. I didn't know if it was since you didn't reply to my first text." He immediately wrote back " Sorry." Anyway, the thing I learned is that as a parent I need to take advantage of the small window of opportunities we have to train our kids and laugh with them at the same time. Joe is not a person who showsn public affection but that Sunday when he saw me, he came straight to me, said good morning and gave me a hug, which is not the norm for him. Little moments can teach big things!!
Once in a while I get a random thought or feel inspire to write. This page is a variety of some of that.
I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing.
