Excerpt From: Bounds, E.M. “Power Through Prayer.”
As I sit in my living room and look out my window reflecting on the statement above by Bounds, I have to be honest with myself that sometimes my devotion isn't first to God.
This morning it felt good to get out if bed and get on my knees and after the reflection on yesterday quiet time on not allowing the chains of sleep keep me from spending time with God; my heart was determined to not let my desire to sleep be more important than my desire to spend time with God. That was great choice but then my daughter came in and I remember a talk I needed to have with her, so I began my talk; I then got up made lunches, thought I am having company over let me clean up the kitchen. And now here I am convicted that although I knew God needed to be first I slowly began to out him second, then third, then last. I had extra time but I started focusing on the things in front of me instead of my time with God.
More and more I see how God my creator whom I claim to follow and whom I claim to be number one takes the back seat in my life often. It's so easy to give God the leftovers. I need to hold to Matthew 22:37 daily; Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."
Dear God good morning, as I come before you I pray that you help me to stay in touch with your presence through my day. I pray this so I won't ignore you as often as I do or put you second.
I pray to daily as 1 Samuel 12:24 says; "Only fear the LORD and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you."
May I remember that every day I wake up is to do your will as Romans 14:8 says; "for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord's."
May everything I do brings you glory from the time I wake up to through my day; until I go to sleep.
I pray my day reflect would reflect 1 Corinthians 10:31; "Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
I pray that my life will reflect Deuteronomy 6:5; "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might."
May my heart, soul and might be devoted to you daily and forever.
In Jesus name I pray
