Excerpt From: Bounds, E.M. “Power Through Prayer.”
Mark 9:28-29 says; "After Jesus had gone indoor, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer”. When I read the statement above immediately this scripture came to my heart. It's the question Jesus disciples asked him because they were unable to cute a sick boy. Jesus gives such a simple answer, what made it impossible for them to that, they didn't pray.
I can only imagine if it was me and someone ask me to heal their child, I would start thinking how am I going to do this, I would start asking a bunch of questions and going through every possible solution. The first thing would not be to pray.
Often when someone comes to me for guidance if I start our time with a prayer I don't work hard on how to help. The spirit moves.
My husband is such an example to me of a man who takes everything before God. Anytime we get with someone to counsel them he always says; "guys lets start with a prayer", I watch how after we pray it changes the time of the meeting, we become focus on looking for spiritual answers, we listen better, he and I become more connected to guide whoever we are meeting with, the same applies to our relationship with each other or with our children. Every time a sensitive talk has to happen, he starts with a prayer and it's amazing how it changes the tone of the dialogue.
Prayer teaches me to train my heart not just head to seek to hear what God wants to say, instead of what my reasoning is telling me.
Is easy for me to backslide when I am relying on my own power rather than God and how much I pray shows how much I am relying on God.
I need to pray more.
Dear God good morning thank you for the opportunity to come before you. I ask for your patience as I work on prayer more before doing more,
It can be so easy to start fixing issues and you know is my sinful nature to sometimes can be arrogant or controlling.
I truly desire to be control by you, to be led by you. I have many facts that remind me that I am an expert of making a mess of things. I am more than capable of making bad choices or giving bad advice, in fact I don't need help with that.
I need you because with you I am the complete opposite. Your word says in 2 Corinthians 5:17; "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
I am a new creation.
Thank you God for Jesus sacrifice that allows me as 2 Corinthians 5:16; "So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer."
I regard no one from a worldly point of view and that includes me.
I pray to carry Proverbs 3:5-6; "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" on my heart. I pray to be led daily to pray more so I can trust you more.
I pray to not fall into self-reliance and therefore become a backslider of my faith in you.
I love you God.
In Jesus Name I pray
