Excerpt From: Bounds, E.M. “Power Through Prayer.”
The statement above by John Welch convicts my soul. I don't often think of the people God put in my life as souls I have to answer for. I imagine that my interactions with people, especially my husband and children will be very different.
I have to answer for their soul, yes they have to also answer but I must ask myself; have I done everything to turn their soul to God?
Sadly, sometimes I am more concerned about they not being mad at me than the condition of their soul.
I must remember that I don't share my faith only because it's beneficial for me but because:
1- Jesus commands it in Matthew 28:18-20 MSG; "Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: "God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I'll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age."
2- Everyone will face judgment:
2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
Hebrews 9:26-28; “Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”
I pray that daily I will take seriously that I will have to answer for the souls God has placed in my life.
Dear God good morning, I am very convicted. I sometimes can use the excuse that people have to answer for themselves to cause me to be shallow instead of forceful when I reach out to someone spiritually.
I pray to be like Paul who said in Acts 20:26-27; "Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of any of you. For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God."
I want to be able to say that for person you put in my life; “I Olivia am innocent of men blood because I have not hesitated to proclaim the whole will of a God to them.”
I pray for wisdom and discernment in this area.
I pray that as I interact with others today I will remember that I do have to answer for their soul.
In Jesus name I pray Amen
