Excerpt From: Bounds, E.M. “Power Through Prayer.”
Mark 1:35 says; "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed."
This scripture is one of many that shows how much Jesus prayed.
As Bound statement said in the statement above; "The preacher, to train himself in self-denying prayer, is charged to look to his Master."
Looking to the Master is important in knowing how to do the will of God. Jesus prayed, he knew that prayer is what will give him the strength and courage to move forward in doing God will.
Hebrews 5:7 says; "During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.”
If Jesus the son of God offered many prayers and petitions to God, I Olivia a mere human need to do the same and more.
I need to always remember that I am who I am because of God; so if I like who I am, I need to continue talking and listening to God.
Dear God good evening, I pray that instead of getting on the phone, or start cleaning, or run errands after the kids leave for school I will imitate your son who prayed after he dismiss the people as Matthew 14:23 says; "After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone."
God you know I try very hard to spend time with you before the kids get up, but most of the time II don’t pray again unless there is an emergency prayer request.
God I don't believe I can be discipline to set timers to pray more often during the day but I do want to start somewhere. I believe praying after I dismissed all my kids to school is a good start. I pray you help me to be patient and compassionate to myself because you know that once the kids leave I am use to making any private calls I need to make, or clean, etc.
My fear is starting to pray and then loosing track of time of the things I decided in my mind I had to get done for that day. So please God be with me during this challenge and may it draw me closer to You and may it build my faith.
Thank You God!
I pray for discipline to become a woman of prayer.
