Excerpt From: Bounds, E.M. “Power Through Prayer.”
The statement above by Bounds, placed two thought on my heart:
1- More time with God equal more good choices:
I believe that spending time with God is important because I need it and because it's a way to shows God is important to me. However I never actually though about when I don't get time with God, quality time not rush time, the devil gets victories through my day.
I am convicted because I can see clearly that every time I rushed my time with God, I felt rushed throught my day, which cause me to get irritated quickly. Good time with God equals "Olivia making more good choices", rushed times with God equals "Olivia making rush choices that ultimately end up being bad choices".
2- My morning prayer should lead me to waiting on God to answer:
Psalm 5:3 says; "In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly."
I have read this scripture many times, but for the first time this morning I realize that when I lay my request before God in the morning I don't wait expectantly. I don't wait and see how God answered my morning request.
I am not referring to the request that take time, like praying for someone I love to become a disciple but I am referring more to the daily request like praying to be kind no matter what, or not being deceitful, etc. Although I make those daily request, as I reflected this morning I saw that I do it more out of duty. I lack faith God will actually answer them for me so I don’t wait expectantly.
From this quiet time I pray to be more exited to see God answer my prayer request for the day.
Dear God good morning that you God so much for waking me up and helping me to stay up and not go back to sleep, even though I was and are still very tempted to get under my blanket and fall into a nice deep sleep, thanks for keeping me focus on my decision to make you more important than my fleshly desires.
God I pray Matthew 17:20 into my life today; "Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
I pray to believe that nothing is impossible for me if I have faith.
I pray to not be afraid to practice daily Psalm 5:3 and lay before you my needs and wait in expectation.
I love you God
