Place three clear cups of water on the table, then asked them to describe the water, then asked “is this water drinkable?” Once they say yes. Place in one cup a teaspoon of dirt, and then asked them if they would drink this water? (Hopefully they will say no). Then put 10 spoons of dirt in the other cup then ask, which of these waters will taste better, the one with more dirt or the one with less.
Read the following scriptures:
Share that when we are born, we are like the clean cup of water, but as we make choices that hurt God, we become dirty, so only God, who created us, can make us clean again. You are not better than someone because you don’t make a lot of mistakes, or you are not worse because you mess up more than others. We all sin, so we need to be forgiving to others and ask God to forgive us since he is the one we hurt first, because He created us.
Weekly goal: Be quick to say I forgive you because you make bad choices also.
Side note: My son said “mom, if you keep adding dirt it will get hard”, I said he was right, and that is why we want to work on changing the bad choices we make over and over or our heart will get hard and we won’t care about hurting God or others anymore.
