Doing what’s right is hard.
Lesson:
Ask, “How hard is it to do the right thing?” Talk about how hard it can be for you to do the right thing and fight temptations at the same time.
Read Ephesians 6:12
Our fight is not against people but against the forces that are trying to get us to do the wrong thing. (The boys loved this DEVO.) In order to do that, we need to put on our armor every morning when we wake up. Read Ephesians 6:13-18.
Activity:
Go outside, tell everyone that you are going to play a “double role”, each person will have a bottle of ketchup and view everyone around them as “temptations” and have to destroy them. At the same time, they are trying to remain righteous, so they have to avoid getting shoot by someone else with ketchup. The winner is the person with the less ketchup, that means they successfully fought temptations and stayed righteous. The one with the most ketchup (in our family, it turns out to be the youngest one), we need to protect them and teach them how to fight temptations.
Weekly focus: Read the Bible everyday so you could be prepared to fight temptations.
